The photographer that I picked is Matthew Brandt. He focuses on stain, smudge, and eroded photography. He prints off pictures that he has taken and sets them in water. Eventually the ink from the photo runs or smudges. This is how his final pieces are created. I find the outcome of these photos just fascinating. None of them look the same and I think that is what makes them so successful. I think that I am going to do the same thing. Just take photos, probably of landscape, and then dip them in water and see where that gets me.
The photographer that I picked is names Gregory Pleau. He is a landscaping photographer rather than a portrait photographer. By looking at his work he seems to take a lot of pictures of people camping or something related to camping.
I really like the first photo of the guy who is taking pictures supposedly but is looking up at the sky instead. The guy is in rule of thirds and to me he is the focal point of this photo. I love the background of it too, the colors, and the texture of it. It is kind of like you are right there. It kind of seems like he used the flash on his camera but only the guy is lit up so I find that really intriguing on what kind of techniques he used to take it like that. I just think that overall this photo is successful. It is very neatly done and it looks as is if there is little to no editing done to it. Along with having only the guy and camera in it, it is a simple photo which in this case worked in his favor. I really don't know what else to write. This photo is also a landscape photo obviously. There isn't anyone in it this time though. I don't really know if I would consider the canoe and whatever it is behind it in rule of thirds. They're kind of just there in the photo. Kind of in the middle and kind of off to the side. The two paddles against the tree are in rule of thirds however, but they aren't the focal point of this photo. So I don't know if it'll matter that much. I think the red canoe is the focal point of this photo. It is right there in front of you and since whatever kind of light he is using is reflecting off the red it catches your eye. I do like how the light he is using covers a wider space instead of just one thing like in the last photo. The background is darker so it isn't so distracting. I like how exposed the photo is. I don't think exposed is the word I'm wanting to use, but oh well. Bright is maybe the word, but with whatever he is using, you can see the colors and the textures of the landscape and objects better. I think that is what makes this photo successful. The third photo is combining both objects and people like the first two. I think I like this one the best. The tent is in the rule of thirds and the dude is right in the middle of the photo. They are the focal point for me. They are the only main objects in the picture. The trees in the background kind of help with leading lines but overall the tent and the guy are the only main things there. The lighting he used is on or in the tent. I can't tell. It kind of looks like he has a light somewhere else but I don't know for sure. It makes the tent stand out and the guy lit up so he stands out as well. I like how simple this picture is. By looking at all of the photos he's taken, I can tell he is really passionate about the outdoors. Just about all of his photos are taken in the outdoors. He must have a real big connection with it. So here is a photo that I took while I was on vacation in Florida. I don't know what caused me to take this photo but I think I was just really hot and wanted to be finished. Luckily it turned out pretty well for me. For trying to be sneaky and not get caught while taking this photo, it uses rule of thirds really well. The man with the red hat is on the line. I think when you first look at the photo, your eye is drawn to the little old man with the red hat. His hat is bright and he's just right there. Your eyes kind of move around the background of the photo from there. There's a lot of going on but it isn't too cluttered. I think the colors of this photo make it pretty successful too. If it was just black and white or there was just one guy in this particular photo, it wouldn't be so interesting looking. It'd be kind of boring. In my opinion at least. I think the mood could be interpreted in a couple different ways. There's a lot of different things happening in this picture, so that leaves you with a lot of different feelings. To me I think there is a kind of happy mood to it. There are quite a few families and people doing different activities in this photo. They're at the beach, and they're having fun. Why wouldn't you be happy while at the beach with your friends or your family. I don't know if I would say that there is a one special moment in this photo, I think there are many "special moments" throughout this. I think that's it. This photo is kind of self explanatory as to what is going on. The man is obviously fishing. He isn't in the rule of thirds but he is in the center of this photo and is the focal point. I think since he is in the center of this photo that is what your eye is drawn to. Then once again to the background and seeing what all of the people are doing. Since the colors of this photo aren't too bright and elaborate it makes the photo not so distracting since there are a lot of things happening in the background. I also think that there could be a lot of different moods interpreted with this photo. Just look at all of the things happening throughout this photo. You could feel so many things, I think that this photo also has a happy soothing kind of mood just like the last one. I think since he is doing something he really enjoys that makes it have that special moment. I also think that with all the people watching him, it makes it even cooler. This is the same guy from above and he actually caught a fish. This one was really hard to take because I looked like a total creeper taking a picture of this random guy. So I pretended to take a picture of the building behind him. He's in rule of thirds in this photo unlike the one above. I kind of wish he was more centered but it doesn't bother me too much. He is definitely what your eye sees first. He is the attention getter. There isn't much in the background so it doesn't distract from the center point, being him. He is also wearing something red and I somehow edited that to be more brighter so that also makes him the first thing you see. This photo shows a definite moment since he actually caught the fish and is posing to take a photo. You can't see it but there were a lot of random people around in amazement since he actually caught one. They thought it was so cool. So that is that "special moment" that occurred but you can't actually see. I think there is that accomplishment kind of feeling throughout this photo. It isn't that easy to catch a fish in the ocean so it is a cool thing that happened. I really like this photo. I just think the idea of it is super neat. I like how simple it is. There isn't too much that is going on but there is just enough going on to tell a story. The girl is centered in this photo, like smack dab in the center, and the guy is on the rule of thirds line but on the right side unlike my other photos that are to the left. I think since the background is bright and the colors of their clothing is dull and not bright, is has a good balance to them. The railings that she is standing on is a leading line so it helps move your eye around the photo very well. I think the people are what your eyes go to first. They're what is in the center of the photo so it is kind of just there. If that makes any sense. I think that there is that special moment in this photo. She looks very happy while taking her own pictures. The special moment is that she probably took a successful photo or photos. She is smiling at her camera, so the guy must of been a good model. It is something that they are both doing together, so that also has a good feeling to it. Unless she dragged him along and he doesn't actually want to do it, but we can choose the first option and pretend that he's happy doing it to. This is my brother and so it was okay to take a picture of him without being creepy. Even though he didn't know I was taking this photo, it wasn't as creepy as taking a picture of a stranger. Somehow I managed to get him in the rule of thirds. Also managed to get a background that is minimally distracting. There is only one person doing something in the water, looks like he or she is flopping. Then there is a little boat in the background. Since he is one of the only things in this photo, he is the thing your eye sees first. Also since he is wearing bright colored swim trunks that makes him more out there. Your eye goes from him to the water, and then around the water. Or so my eyes do that. I don't know if there is that one special moment in this photo. He looks very serious which kind of adds a serious mood to it. I think he is probably mad that I was taking pictures of strangers without their permission but I also took this without his permission so oops. I like how simple this photo is. There isn't too much going on in it.
Marius Vieth I don't know if there is one thing specifically I like about these photos, but every photo that I see I am just in love with. They are so simple but tell a story at the same time. There is a person in every single photo that he takes, even if it is just one, but even though there is just one person, a specific mood is set in each of the photos. A lot of his photos are done either at night or in different weather situations and it just adds this unique aspect to the photos. He uses rules of thirds in most of his photos as well, which adds a very clean and professional look to his photos. Overall I think he is a very professional photographer. Everything he takes a photo of, there is a reason behind it. I'm kind of just babbling on now about him, but I really like these photos. I can't stop looking at them. Tavepong Pratoomwong His photos are very different. That's all I can say. Whatever he's taking a photo of, it isn't centered, it isn't really planned. He seems to manage to take the photo at just the right moment. In a lot of his photos the faces of the people aren't shown. They are cut out, or something is in front of them, or they're buried in a bush like that one photo below. He takes pictures of things that most people wouldn't think of taking a picture of. I don't even know how this guy manages to take pictures like this without getting caught. I wish I could be that sneaky. Like the lady with her hair blowing all over the place, how do you manage to take a photo like that without getting caught. I think you have to have a very unique eye to get photos like these. There are even weirder photos he's taken too, most photographers wouldn't see the things in the way that he does. They're very unique photos. Yanidel
This guy has traveled all over the world to get street photographs. When I read that, I was like oh cool so his photos are going to be super cool exuberant photos. When I looked at them though, they were so simple, and I think that is the cool part about them. He definitely makes sure the people he takes photos of are the center of attention, well maybe not center center but the main focal point. The background of the photographs are either blurred out so the person can be seen and be the first thing you see, or there is barely anything in the background, it is simple, so nothing can distract from the people in the photos. He captures a lot of moods throughout his many pictures. Someone is either smiling and making the photo represent something happy. Or he has someone sleeping and kind of having a chill mood added to the picture. I think even though the photo has very few things throughout it, he put a lot of work into it and making sure it actually represents something and it isn't something just super random. |
